Once upon a time, in a cozy wooden house with a big garden, lived two children, Leo and Lily. They loved to play, run, and draw. But most of all, they loved their cat, Barnaby. Barnaby was a very special cat.

He had soft ginger fur that smelled like warm sunshine and vanilla cookies, bright green eyes, and a very smart look. One sunny afternoon, Leo tried to climb a big apple tree in the garden. He stretched his arms, but his hands slipped, and he slid down onto the soft green grass with a loud sigh. — Oh, I am too small.
I cannot climb this tree! — Leo muttered, looking very sad. His shoulders went down, and his tummy felt heavy with disappointment. Lily was sitting nearby, trying to build a high tower out of wooden blocks.
The tower kept falling down with a loud crash. — And I cannot build this tower. It is too difficult! — Lily said, feeling a warm splash of anger in her cheeks.
Her hands even shook a little bit. Suddenly, they heard a soft purr. Barnaby the cat walked out of the bushes, stretching his paws. He looked at the children, shook his whiskers, and sat down on a warm stone.
— Meow, my dear friends, — Barnaby said in a quiet, velvety voice. — You are using a very sad word today. You keep saying cannot, cannot. But do you know the magic word that unlocks all your talents?
Leo and Lily stared at the cat in surprise. They did not know Barnaby could speak! — What word, Barnaby? — Lily asked, her eyes wide.
— The word is CAN, — Barnaby purred, licking his paw. — It is a small word, but it has super powers. When you use CAN, you tell your body and the whole world what amazing things you are able to do. For example, look at me!
I CAN jump very high! Barnaby made a soft spring movement with his legs and flew up onto the lowest branch of the apple tree. He landed perfectly, his claws making a tiny click on the bark. — Wow!
— Leo gasped. — You really can jump! — Yes, — Barnaby smiled, showing his tiny white teeth. — And I CAN run fast, I CAN chase shiny red butterflies, and I CAN purr when I am happy.
What about you, Leo? What CAN you do? Leo thought for a moment. He looked at his strong legs and his favorite blue sneakers.
— Well, — Leo said, feeling a little spark of warmth in his chest. — I CAN ride my bicycle very fast. And I CAN swim in the pool! — Excellent!
— Barnaby purred loudly. — You see? You have the power! Now, what about you, Lily?
Lily looked at her hands, which did not feel angry anymore. — I CAN draw beautiful yellow suns and purple flowers. And I CAN sing a funny song about a little frog! — Lily laughed.
— Purr-fect! — Barnaby said, jumping down from the tree with a light thud. — Now, let us look at your problems again. Leo, you said you cannot climb this tree.
But you are strong. Let us change the words. You CAN climb, but maybe you need a lower branch first? Leo smiled.
He walked to a smaller tree nearby. His hands felt strong, and his heart beat with excitement. He grabbed the branch, pulled himself up, and laughed. — Look!
I CAN climb this one! — he shouted. — And Lily, — Barnaby turned to the girl. — You CAN build a tower.
Just do it slowly, block by block. Lily took a deep breath. She felt calm and focused. She placed one block on top of another.
One, two, three, four... The tower stood tall and proud! — I CAN do it! — Lily cheered, clapping her hands.
Barnaby sat down, wrapping his fluffy tail around his paws. — Remember, my friends, — the wise cat said. — Whenever you feel sad or think you are not strong enough, just say: I can try, I can do, I can learn. This is your magic power!
From that day on, whenever Leo and Lily faced a difficult task, they remembered the fluffy ginger cat and his magic word. And they knew they could do anything.
